The law changes
Statutes, rules, forms, fees, timelines and Patent Office practice all change. Several periods in Indian patent practice changed with the Patents (Amendment) Rules, 2024, appeals moved to the High Courts in 2021, and several offences were recast in 2023. A page that was accurate when written may not be accurate when you read it. Check the “verified as of” date on each page.

The official statutory text and the applicable Gazette notifications prevail over every simplified explanation on this site. Where they differ, the official text governs.
Tools and calculators
The calculators and questionnaires on this site apply ordinary statutory periods to the dates you type in. They do not know your file, your applicant category, which amendment governs your application, or what the Patent Office has issued. Do not use them as a diary. Have every date that matters confirmed professionally.
