Patent forms and official fees
Which form, which schedule, which category.
Forms are prescribed in the Second Schedule to the Patents Rules and fees in the First Schedule. Both are amended from time to time, which is why we link to the official versions rather than reproducing them.
Fees are tiered by applicant category and by mode of filing. Natural persons, startups, small entities and educational institutions pay less; physical filing costs more than e-filing.
Official fees are only part of the cost. Professional fees for drafting, prosecution and hearings are separate, and a responsible estimate separates the two.
The provisions that govern this
Act sections and Rules are listed separately, as they always are on this site. Open a provision for its own explanation, example and deadlines.
