The Register of Patents and official records
What the Register records, who can see it, and how errors are corrected.
The Register records granted patents and the particulars the Act prescribes, including assignments, transmissions, licences and renewals.
It is open to public inspection, and certified copies and extracts can be obtained. What the Register says is the starting point for anyone doing diligence on a patent.
Clerical errors can be corrected on application, with advertisement and an opportunity to oppose where the correction is significant.
